About Game Research Lab

Tampere University Game Research Lab carries out innovative research in games and play, organizes university degree education into game studies, and builds bridges from fundamental research to societal impact in its various collaborations.

The University of Tampere Game Research Lab is headed by professor Frans Mäyrä, together with a team of experienced game researchers who together form Game Research Lab Steering Group. The Steering Group has an active role in the organisation and development of the research team and its practices.

Game Research Lab is coordinating the Centre of Excellence in Game Culture Studies (2018-2025) between University of Tampere, University of Jyväskylä and University of Turku.
